The Korean Women in Mathematical Sciences holds the annual conference named ¡°Leaders Forum for the Careers of Next-Generation Women Mathematical Scientists¡±, which is mostly supported by the Korea Federation of Women¡¯s Science and Technology Associations.
The theme for the "2024 Leaders Forum for the Careers of Next-Generation Women Mathematical Scientists¡± (called ¡°Leaders Forum¡± in short) is ¡°A Future of Growing Together Based on the 20 Years of Capabilities of the Korean Women in Mathematical Sciences.¡±
The main objectives and contents of this year¡¯s Leaders Forum are as follows:
The theme for the "2024 Leaders Forum for the Careers of Next-Generation Women Mathematical Scientists¡± (called ¡°Leaders Forum¡± in short) is ¡°A Future of Growing Together Based on the 20 Years of Capabilities of the Korean Women in Mathematical Sciences.¡±
The main objectives and contents of this year¡¯s Leaders Forum are as follows:
Research Project Mentoring for graduate students (April to September)
- Each mentoring team of 1~4 graduate students including a female student is guided by a female math professor. All the teams present their results at the conference of the Leaders Forum on October 11th.
- Through this mentoring program, graduate students (including a female student) in their master's programs in math can stay updated on recent research trends and may use this opportunity for their career development.
YouTube video contest for college and elementary, middle, and high school students on math (May-August)
- A team is formed by one supervising teacher or professor and 1-5 mentees, including female students. They produce creative videos utilizing mathematics to help students experience, discover, and feel the usefulness of mathematics in daily life or industry, and hold a competition. The content must be related to school mathematics for elementary, middle, and high school teams, and major mathematics for college teams.
- By providing opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school students to participate in competitions, we aim to encourage students¡¯ interest in mathematics, prevent math talents from leaving the field and support the growth of excellent math talents.
